The popular ski village of Sölden is located in the Sölden ski area in the Ötztal valley in Austria. The ski area, with no less than two glaciers and 144 km of slopes, is super snow-sure. The highest point is at 3,250 meters. The area is perfect for a ski holiday because it offers so many options. The absolute highlight is the 15 km descent from the top of the Rettenbach Glacier all the way down to the valley, a drop of 2,000 meters.
You won't get bored in Sölden. With the lifts in the ski area, you can ski at high altitudes. There are three peaks above 3,000 meters that you can reach with your Sölden ski pass: the Gaislachkogel, the Tiefenbachkogel, and the Schwarze Schneid, also known as the BIG-3.
Absolutely! The fact that the area is vast and high doesn't mean beginners can't enjoy it. Nearly 50% of all the slopes in the area are blue, making them suitable for anyone still mastering skiing. In the higher parts of the ski area, the slopes are nice and wide with fewer bumps from accumulated snow. Those looking for more challenges will also find plenty in Sölden. Our tip: the Gaislachkogl (3,058 meters high) with fantastic powder runs.
Sölden is known for its good restaurants and lively après-ski. There are also many shops in the village, and you can swim and relax in the Freizeit Arena Sölden or the Aqua Dome. Did you know there’s a 5 km toboggan run that you can use until 11:00 PM? You can get there with a small bus from the village.
