ZELL AM SEE / KAPRUN
The ski region of Zell am See and Kaprun is one of the most popular ski areas of Austria and offers a total of 138 km of pistes. The area is divided over three sub areas: the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See, the Maiskogel in Kaprun and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier in Kaprun. The ski bus takes you to all three areas and there is one lift pass that will grant you access to the whole area of Zell am See and Kaprun and the ski area of Saalbach/Hinterglemm/Leogang/Fieberbrunn. There is one ski pass for both ski areas for a total of 408 km of slopes. The area is very diverse and offers true excitement for skiers and snowboarders of each degree.
Zell am See: covering 77 km slopes (25 km blue, 27 km red and 25 km black)
The Schmittenhöhe (2000m) in Zell am See, offers 77 km of slopes in woody surroundings. From the village there are three cable-cars leading to different parts of the region. The area has a horse shoe form, on one side mainly blue slopes and on the other side mostly red slopes. In between you will find the challenging black slopes like e.g. the Trass run.
Kaprun: 61 km slopes divided over two ski areas (36 km blue, 21 km red and 4 km black)
Directly in the village the Maiskogel (1675m) is found, covering 20 km of pistes, also called the ‘family mountain’. Furthermore, at the glacier of the Kitzsteinhorn there is another 41 km of slopes available, situated at a height of 3203 metres. Due to its altitude the glacier is also accessible during the summer! At the Kitzsteinhorn there are several long runs, offering a great option to enjoy the surroundings. The panorama restaurant is also worth a visit.
Moreover, snowboarders, free riders and free-stylers can enjoy themselves with the fun parks, the great off-piste opportunities and the mogul run! At an altitude of 2900 metres the Roxy Gletsjer park is found, a large and challenging fun park. Those who seek adrenaline can practice on the halfpipe with a length of 160 metres and a depth of 6 metres: the largest halfpipe in Austria!
Après-ski is in both villages well presented. In Kaprun you can enjoy yourself at the Baum-bar, Reiteralm, pavillon and Dancing Queen Kaprun. In Zell am See there are a number of lively après-ski bars like e.g. Crazu Daisy, De Pinzgauer Diele and the SchnapsHans Bar on the Schmittenhöhe. In the village you can also find an ice rink, an indoor swimming pool, Wellness centre Tauern Spa Kaprun, fitness, a cinema and even a casino.
