General Terms and Conditions of Travel and Sale Chaletonline.com

These terms and conditions apply to all trips booked through Chalet.nl B.V. (KvK/Chamber of Commerce 30209634) doing business as “Chaletonline.com” (the "Tour Operator") and clarify and supplement the ANVR Traveller Terms (pdf).

The invoice of a booking will state whether the booking made is classified as a package travel agreement or as a single travel service. In the case of a package travel agreement, paragraph 1 of the ANVR Travelers' Terms applies to the agreement and this document is an addition to it. In the case of a single travel service, paragraph 3 of the ANVR Travel Terms and Conditions will apply to the agreement and this document will supplement it.

The following provisions have been laid down by the tour operator itself. As far as the content of these articles is concerned, no consultation took place between ANVR and Consumers' Association within the framework of the Self-Regulation Coordination Group of the Social and Economic Council. Except for the deviations permitted in the terms and conditions themselves, these own stipulations cannot detract from the ANVR Travel Terms and Conditions and are only intended to supplement the ANVR Travel Terms and Conditions where stated in the ANVR Travel Terms and Conditions themselves and/or to further strengthen the position of consumers.

Establishment of the agreement

The agreement is established through the acceptance by the traveller of the tour operator's offer, including the applicable terms and conditions. The traveller may express this acceptance orally or confirm it by e-mail. A traveller may also express this acceptance by sending a booking request through our website. The tour operator's obligation to implement the contract is triggered as soon as the booker receives the invoice/booking confirmation for the booked trip by e-mail. The main booker is jointly and severally liable for all obligations arising from the travel agreement for all specified persons. The booker acts in his/her own name and on his/her own behalf.

Payment

After receipt of the invoice/booking confirmation, the traveller must pay at least the down payment (30% of the travel price plus booking costs) within three days, indicating the invoice number. The balance must be paid no later than six weeks before departure. If the traveller books within six weeks of departure, he/she must immediately pay the total amount on receipt of the invoice.

Relaxed conditions for winter sports bookings 2025–2026

We normally apply a 30% deposit, but relaxed conditions are currently in place for winter sports bookings for season 2025–2026. Those booking now will only pay a 10% deposit. The remaining 20% must be paid by 1 July 2025. Our cancellation conditions for these bookings have also been relaxed: until 1 July 2025, cancellation fees are 10%, after that they apply as usual.

Cancellation

The cancellation charges mentioned in paragraph 1 article 9.2 and paragraph 3 article 3.3 of the ANVR Traveller Terms are replaced by the following:

In all cases, the traveller is liable to the tour operator for the booking costs, the SGR-contribution and the following cancellation costs for each cancelled booking:

  • For cancellations up to 43 days before the departure date: 30% of the travel cost;
  • For cancellations between 29 and 42 days before the departure date: 60% of the travel cost;
  • For cancellations between 8 and 28 days before the departure date: 90% of the travel cost;
  • For cancellations between 7 days before the departure date and the date of departure or thereafter: 100% of the travel cost.

The other provisions of paragraph 1 article 9.2 and paragraph 3 article 3.3 of the ANVR Traveller Terms remain in force.

Options and package components

After issue of the invoice, an option or package deal (for example, ski passes or rental equipment) may be changed up to 28 days prior to departure without incurring any change fees. The change will be confirmed by the tour operator in the invoice. For options and package deals, the validity period as stated on the corresponding vouchers applies. Non-use of an option for one or more days during the holiday does not constitute a reason for reimbursement by the tour operator. An option may not be changed or cancelled with no charge after departure. Catering services and coach trips may not be cancelled.

Agencies and tour guides

The tour operator works with agencies, private owners, or partner tour guides at our various destinations. They represent the tour operator at the destination but work under their own responsibility. The tour operator is not responsible for alternative arrangements with these parties without written confirmation from the tour operator prior to the trip.

Arrival and departure day

Arrivals and departures are ordinarily on Saturdays. Any changes to this standard arrival and departure day will be indicated in both the offer and the confirmation from the tour operator. On the day of arrival, check-in to the accommodation ordinarily begins at 5 p.m. In general, travellers must check out from the accommodation before 9 a.m. on the day of departure. The specific check-in and check-out times for the specific accommodation booked are confirmed in the travel documents by the tour operator. The traveller must give the key holder/contact person advance notice if he/she expects to arrive later than the latest check-in time on the day of arrival indicated in the travel documents. The tour operator may not be held liable if the traveller is unable to check in as a result of arriving after the latest check-in time, including if the traveller gave notice of his/her late arrival.

Security deposit

A security deposit for the accommodation must often be paid on arrival. The security deposit amount is stated (if known) in the travel documents. The security deposit is ordinarily returned in cash or refunded after the stay once the accommodation is checked. The payment and return of the security deposit is the sole responsibility of the traveller; the tour operator is not a party to this process. In some locations, a security deposit must be paid on the spot for skiing and/or snowboarding equipment.

Accommodation

Accommodations may differ from the pictures shown; pictures are indicative only. Accommodations may be owned by private individuals who have furnished the accommodation to their taste. Some accommodations when utilised to their maximum occupancy may become cramped and less than ideal. For example, a small boiler may not be sufficient enough to take care of your water heating needs. In some countries you might find that the beds are smaller, the bathrooms lack a shower curtain, or that the shower head cannot be suspended. Kitchen equipment may not always include a coffee maker and/or cheese slicer. The available internet signal strength may sometimes be sub-optimal. The television channel selection may also be limited. Regarding a booking, the traveller may make certain preferences known to the tour operator for the accommodation (for example, location). These preferences do not at any time give rise to any rights. If extra facilities of an accommodation, such as for example a swimming pool or a wellness facility, cannot be used, or can be used only to a limited extent due to government measures, the traveler is not entitled to any compensation or a cancellation of the booking free of charge. The maximum number of occupants indicated for the accommodation may not be exceeded, unless agreed in writing and stated in the confirmation. The owner/manager has the right to deny people access to an accommodation if this requirement is not met.

Accommodation cleaning

Final cleaning costs may vary by accommodation. Final cleaning may be included in the purchase price, the traveller may have to perform the final cleaning or the final cleaning may be provided as an optional or mandatory service the traveller may or must purchase. Accommodations must generally be left clean and tidy and the traveller is generally solely responsible for cleaning the kitchen and dishes, emptying out the bins and disposing of any waste, unless otherwise indicated.

Seasonal adjustments

In the off-season, preparations are often made for the start or end of the season. The traveller must therefore take into consideration that facilities such as swimming pools, shops and restaurants may have limited opening times or may be closed, there may be a limited range of other facilities and there may be construction works underway at the destination. The tour operator does not accept any liability for these circumstances.

The opening and closing days of the ski areas (or parts of them) depends among other things on weather conditions and can be changed by lift pass companies during the ski season. Therefore, we always recommend to check the website of your ski area for the most up-to-date information. Of course we do our best to publish the most up-to-date information, however, Chalet.nl B.V. is not responsible for the content of this information. If the opening and the closing days of your ski area have changed, it is possible to cancel booked lift passes and rental equipment without the usual cancellation fees.

Temporary closure of the ski areas during your holiday due force majeure (such as weather conditions) do not entitle you to a (partial) refund of the ski pass and any other booked options.

Better Holidays

While compiling our trips, we take into account people, the environment, nature and culture to ensure your holiday will be special and future generations of travellers will also be able to enjoy attractive destinations. Whether it concerns enjoying wild nature, local culture, meeting people or tasting local food; together we cooperate in holidays that create better places and more beautiful experiences while making an important contribution to sustainable development on destinations. For you as traveller, but also for the people living in the countries of destination.

Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism

We actively support ANVR and Defence for Children/ECPAT in protecting children from sexual exploitation in countries visited by our holidaymakers. We invite you to be alert and report assumed abuse of children on www.dontlookaway.nl.
