ZILLERTAL
The winter sport areas Hochfügen-Hochzillertal, Zillertal Arena and Ski Zillertal 3000 form the massive ski region Zillertal. The region is very diverse, with over 445 km of slopes. The Zillertaler Superskipass is valid in these areas and also the Wildkogel Ski Arena is included, offering 469 km of slopes, offering endless excitement for skiers and snowboarders of each level.
The region offers accommodations in each price range, from a five star hotel to affordable apartments and chalets. Each area is pleasant to stay – whether you stay in the winter sport area itself or in one of the other villages. There is a vibrant night life offered in the region of Zillertal.
Erste Ferienregion im Zillertal: 107 km slopes (33 km blue, 46 km red, 13 km black, 13 km ski routes and 2 km park)
This ski area exists out of Hochfügen-Hochzillertal and the Spieljoch. Hochfügen-Zillertal is divided into two ski areas, one is situated above the municipality of Zillertal Mitte – where the villages Kaltenbach, Ried and Stumm are located. From Kaltenbach there is a cable-car that leads to the Hochzillertal and with the Wedelexpress this ski area is connected to Hochfügen, with a total of 90 km of piste.
In Fügen there is another small ski area situated: Spieljoch, with 17 km of slopes. With the new 3 km long ski run to Hochfügenerstrasse (opening Dec. 2014) this area will only be 8-10 minutes away from the Hochfügen ski area, by ski bus.
Zillertal Arena: 143 km slopes (43 km blue, 89 km red and 11 km black)
Centrally in the region of Zillertal the village Zell am Ziller is situated. The ski region of Zillertal Arena is found nearby and is connected to the areas Gerlos, Königsleiten and Hochkrimml. Each village has its own character, varying from a family-village to a lively après-ski village. This extensive interconnected ski area offers 131 km of slopes. For a more quiet and small area the ski area of Ramsau is recommended, offering 12 km piste at the Gerlosstein-Ramsberg.
Ski Zillertal 3000: 196 km slopes (52 km blue, 101 km red, 13 km black, 27 km ski route and 3 km park)
At the border of the Zillertal and the Tuxertal the Ski Zillertal 3000 is located. This ski area is divided over several sub-areas: Mayrhofen, Finkenberg, Hippach and Tux-Lanersbach. Zillertal 3000 has a total of 131 pistes and is the largest area of Zillertal. In Hintertux there is a glacier ski area with 60 km of slopes with long and snow-sure runs. There are even parts of this area that offer ski possibilities during the summer! On the other side of Mayrhofen the small ski area Ahorn is situated with 5 km of slopes.
There are challenging fun parks with a half-pipe situated in Spieljoch, Hochfügen and at the Isskogel in Gerlos. For cross-country skiers there is a 56 km long trail passing by Zell am Ziller, Mayrhofen and Hippach. Around the other villages there are a number of other trails located and also for hikers there are a number of beautiful paths in all of Zillertal.
