The snow-sure Kaprun, situated at an altitude of 786 metres, is known because of the amazing glacier of the Kitzsteinhorn. Kaprun consists of two ski areas. On the edge of the center the family ski area Maiskogel with 20 km of slopes and the Kitzsteinhorn with 41 km of slopes. Due the connecting ski lift from Maiskogel to the Kitzsteinhorn, you can easily reach the glacier from the center of Kaprun.
The ski pass of Kaprun is also valid on the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and, also in the area Saalbach/Hinterglemm/Leogang/Fieberbrunn, for a total of 408 km of slopes.
Kaprun has much more to offer besides skiing. A number of hiking trails start that run through the beautiful, wooded area. There are also plenty of opportunities for cross-country skiers in the region, including a short but beautiful trail at an altitude of 2.900 meter on the Kitzsteinhorn. If you want to relax you can go to the Tauern Spa. This is a big wellness centre with sauna's, a solarium, massage center and a indoor swimming pool.
The cosy centre of Kaprun offers plenty of places to go out, like bars, restaurants and discotheques with great après-ski. Furthermore, there is a toboggan run (on rails) and there are numerous other activities that make Kaprun a very pleasant ski village.
