Tignes, located in the French Savoie, consists of four unique villages: Les Brévières (1,550 meters), Les Boisses (1,850 meters), Le Lac (2,100 meters), and Val Claret (2,150 meters). This high altitude makes Tignes one of the snowiest ski areas in the world, with a season that runs from November to May.
Together with Val d'Isère, Tignes forms one of the largest ski areas in the world, offering a staggering 300 km of slopes. The area, known as Tignes - Val d’Isère, was previously called Espace Killy. From Tignes, you can ski in all directions, with lifts on every side of the village, making it easy to return to your accommodation. The area below the Aiguille Percée is entirely south-facing and connects to the blue and red pistes leading to the villages of Les Boisses and Les Brévières. There is also a long black piste from the back of the Percée to Les Brévières.
A highlight is the Grande Motte Glacier, where you can ski up to 3,456 meters and enjoy panoramic views. Looking forward to discovering this amazing ski area? Find the best accommodations in Tignes, including a ski pass.
In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Tignes offers numerous other activities. You can try ice diving on the frozen lake, an experience like no other. Other activities include dog sledding, snow tubing, and a fun park in Tignes Le Lac with a 70-meter long halfpipe for snowboarders. Cross-country skiing is available on the trails, all of which are located on the frozen lake. For relaxation, you can visit the public swimming pool, Le Lagon, in Tignes Le Lac, where you can enjoy stunning views of the mountains and ski slopes.
Tignes Val Claret is known for its lively après-ski and nightlife. With numerous bars, cafés, and restaurants, you can end your day in style. The village also offers various sports facilities, including a sports center and a bowling alley. Twice a week, a lively market takes place in Tignes Le Lac, where you can pick up charming local products as souvenirs for those back home.
