The ski village of Ellmau is situated at an altitude of 820 metres, at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser and in the heart of the Bergwelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental ski area. The village is well-organized for large tourism numbers and therefore it offers everything you would expect from a winter sport destination! In the village there are a number of supermarkets, shops, cosy restaurants, ski schools, a nursery, sports and wellness facilities and an indoor pool. Furthermore, there are fantastic nightlife possibilities: from traditional mountain huts to lively après-ski bars and a discotheque.

A ski show with instructors of all ski schools will be done every week on one evening. This is always a popular happening with tents where you can get a drink or a bite.
From Ellmau you can reach the Hartkaiser mountain with the 8-person cable car. From the Hartkaiser there is a direct connection to the villages of Scheffau, Brixen im Thale, Söll and Hopfgarten. There is also a chairlift that takes you from Ellmau to Astberg, where various slopes lead to the village of Going.
Ellmau is a very child friendly winter sports destination with e.g. easy practice slopes with children clubs, right inside the village. Beginning skiers have a lot of slopes to explore at the Astberg and the area around Brandstadl at Scheffau. More experienced skiers will enjoy the Hohe Salve at Söll. Snowboarders can go to the Kaiserpark which is the fun park at Ellmau.
The numerous ski schools have instructors that speak different languages, offering a good teacher for almost everyone.
In Ellmau there are approximately 15 km of cross-country trails and in the Wilder Kaiser - Brixental region there is a total of 200 km of cross-country trails. There are also around 50 km of hiking trails near Ellmau and there is a 4.5 km long toboggan run (some nights lit).
