The ski area has no cabin elevators, but the three chair elevators take you quickly to the top. In the valley, at the Riesnerbahn, you will find the Kinderskischaukel Riesneralm. This is its own children's ski area with five runs, two drag elevators and three carpet elevators, an ideal place to get the hang of skiing. The ski school is also located here. Experienced winter sports enthusiasts can venture down the steep black FIS slope to the valley station.
If you purchase a multi-day ski pass, you will receive a Schneebären Card. With this ski pass you not only have access to the Riesneralm, but you can also discover the slopes on the Planneralm, die Tauplitz, Loser Altaussee and Kaiserau. These ski areas are located about 30 to 60 minutes drive from the Riesneralm. Want to discover more slopes and spend a day skiing in a larger ski area? The Ski-Amadé -Schladming Dachstein 4-Berge-Skischaukel is about 40 minutes drive away and here you will find 123 km of interconnected slopes.
Cross-country skiers will find two trails in the valley with a total of 16 km of cross-country fun. Furthermore, you will find a toboggan run in the ski area and once a week a touring ski evening is organized.
An advantage of the Donnersbachtal is that you pass the border at Passau and can thus avoid the crowds at Munich.
