Châtel

This authentic mountain village is situated in the centre of Portes du Soleil. The cosy, old centre of Châtel gives direct access to the slopes. There are two skiing areas: Super Châtel and Linga. Since 2015, these two ski areas are connected through the new chairlift and some blue slopes. Châtel is directly connected with Les Portes du Soleil via Avoriaz, Torgon and Morgins.

Super Châtel (with a connection to Switzerland via Morgins) is situated directly above the village, while Linga/Pré la Joux (with a connection to Avoriaz) is just a few minutes away from the city centre, and can be reach with the free ski bus

Super Châtel mostly offers mainly red and blue pistes. For hikers there is a specially built path, which offers a great view. Snowboarders can go to Châtel for the halfpipe that's 250 metres long. Freeriders will probably prefer the area of Linga. This area offers some of the most challenging pistes of the Portes du Soleil.

The best and extensive cross-country possibilities are found in La Chapelle d'Abondance. There are several tracks with variable distances situated around the village, offering a total of 12 km of trails. Most tracks are directly connected to those in Châtel (7 km) and Abondance (6 km). All together these cross-country trails offer 40 km of loipes.

Those who prefer hiking can walk from Linga to Trèles-Pierres alongside the cross country trails and there is a route in La Chapelle d'Abondance, leading through the village and the woods. There are numerous beautiful hiking routes with a total of 40 km!
